Welcome to the Newport Congregational Church! Although we would love to say that to you in person, that isn't possible at the moment. Still, we hope you know that this Newport Congregational Church is fully available to you. We know that people around the nation, in fact around the world, have trouble finding a church which welcomes them unconditionally and we want to be that kind of church. So welcome! Our primary outreach is to the Aquidneck Island resident and tourist Community but ALL people are welcome in our church, because ALL of us are God's children. Newport Congregational Church (NCC) is a United Church of Christ Church connected to the greater UCC tradition in our polity and traditions. We minister to all people and among our active members are straight, lesbian, and gay, people who span quite an age range and who come from a variety of socioeconomic back grounds. We are a liberal church in many respects and are proud of our heritage of standing against slavery, being the first open and affirming church in Rhode Island, and employ-ing the first openly Lesbian pastor in Rhode Island. Our primary ministry is one of worship. We pride ourselves on our weekly worship ser-vices, our and monthly homeless suppers. You will not want to miss a visit to the Church, the only Fully decorated example of La Farge's amazing murals and stained glass that date back to 1881.
